The 17th Street Merchants and Community Assn. will meet May 31 to discuss the proposed widening of East 17th Street to six lanes. The group, made up of business owners and residents who want a voice in the plan, is trying to raise awareness about the project before the City Council votes in August or early autumn. The 7 p.m. meeting will be at Kaiser Elementary School, 2130 Santa Ana Ave. Information: Douglas Bader at (949) 646-1128.
