Elmer “Al” George Bosman, a former restaurant and motel owner, died Sunday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. The Camarillo resident was 80.
Born on Sept. 13, 1919, in Hamtramck, Mich., to Joseph and Anna Bosman, he grew up and went to school in Michigan.
From 1944-46, he served in the Army and was stationed in the Philippines.
Bosman moved his family to California in 1960 and soon bought the Oasis motel in Oxnard, which he owned for 11 years.
He later owned and operated Henry’s Restaurant in Fillmore for three years.
One of the things he liked to do was play billiards, family members said.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris of Camarillo; sons Elmer “Butch” of Palmdale, Denis of Camarillo and Glen of Camarillo; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crossroads Community Church in Camarillo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Camino del Sol Memorial Center and Funeral Home in Oxnard.
