Clinton Lauds U.S.’ Donations to Charity

In his weekly radio address, President Clinton praised Americans for their charitable giving, which is growing along with the economy, and challenged young people to “discover the rewards of generosity.” According to a report by the president’s Council of Economic Advisors, Americans contributed a record $190 billion to charitable causes in 1999, a 41% increase since 1995. Seven in 10 U.S. homes made at least one charitable contribution last year.
