Schnyder Gives Lift to Glendale

Michael Schnyder, who was chosen most valuable player, had 16 points and seven rebounds to help Glendale College defeat Moorpark, 79-76, Saturday in the championship game of the Moorpark tournament.
Marc Walters had 15 points and Nathaniel Johnson had 14 for Glendale (4-2).
The Vaqueros made 11 of 23 three-point shots and connected on 56% of their field goals in the second half.
Devin Montgomery had 27 points, making 10 of 11 free throws, and Brian Smith had eight points and 11 rebounds for Moorpark (5-1).
The Raiders outrebounded Glendale, 40-23.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Pepperdine 83, Houston 53--Damaris Hinojosa, The Times’ 1998-99 Ventura County player of the year, had 17 points and six assists for the Waves in a nonconference victory at Pepperdine.
Sarah Richen had 15 points and eight rebounds, and reserve Tamara McDonald scored 15 for Pepperdine (3-2).
Chandi Jones had 20 points and seven rebounds for Houston (1-2).
Valley 79, Pierce 47--Michelle Tompkins had 31 points, Tynisha Houze scored 17, and Michelle Duncan had 10 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocked shots for the Monarchs (4-2) in a Western State Conference interdivisional game at Pierce.
Shayla Slezak had 13 points and Alma Ibarra had nine points and eight assists for Pierce (4-2).
The Master’s 81, Cal Baptist 59--Lesley DuBois had 23 points and five rebounds for the Mustangs in a nonconference victory at The Master’s.
Karen Gormley had 16 points for Master’s (5-2), and Erin Buescher had 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
Katie Sico had 19 points for Cal Baptist (4-2).
