CROSS-COUNTRY

The length of the cross-country course used for the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational has long been considered slightly short of the usual three-mile distance used for high school meets.
Now it’s a fact.
A race official measured the course two weeks ago and the total distance was 2.93 miles.
The 53rd annual invitational, which is among the most prestigious on the West Coast, begins today with the Division III-V races and concludes Saturday with the Division I and II races. The team and individual sweepstakes races begin at 9 a.m. and will highlight the high school competition.
