Mitchell, Sciarra Keep St. Francis Rolling, 35-10

Brett Mitchell scored three first-half touchdowns and John Sciarra threw two of his three touchdown passes in the second half to help St. Francis High defeat Arcadia, 35-10, in a nonleague season opener Friday night at St. Francis.
Jim Bonds won his debut as the Golden Knights’ coach.
Mitchell opened the scoring with a six-yard touchdown run, concluding a 13-play, 84-yard drive on the game’s first series in which he caught three passes for 53 yards.
Mitchell returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score in the second quarter and caught Sciarra’s nine-yard touchdown pass 23 seconds before halftime.
Sciarra threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jared Vandercook in the third quarter and a 79-yarder to Clay Wolflick in the fourth. Sciarra completed 12 of 18 passes for 238 yards.
Matthew Milton rushed for a game-high 83 yards in 18 carries despite a slight ankle sprain sustained in the first half.
St. Francis is ranked second in Southern Section Division III and in the region by The Times. Arcadia is ranked sixth in Division III.
