Defining Faith
* In “Mayor Relies on Faith to Deliver Services” (April 9), you refer to churches as “faith groups.” Since when did churches become faith groups? It seems to me that it was just about the same time that George W. Bush began promoting his program to expand government funding of religion.
As far as I can tell, a faith group is the same thing as a religious group. But could it be that the former sounds less ominous than the latter when we start talking about paying for them with our tax dollars? Perhaps that’s the real reason the media have redefined religious groups as faith-based.
