Santa Ana Wins With Combined No-Hitter

Renee Heitbrink and Marie Caballero combined on a no-hitter to lead Santa Ana past Cypress, 3-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Monday at Santa Ana.
Heitbrink (13-5) worked the first four innings, gave way to Caballero, then returned in the seventh.
In the third, Anna Velazquez doubled home Inez Vasquez, then scored on an outfielder’s error. Sharmaine Kendrick doubled home an insurance run in the sixth.
Santa Ana is 30-11-1, 13-4. Cypress is 27-15, 12-6.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s golf:
Saddleback 382, Cuyamaca 393, Cypress 416--Saddleback’s Kevin Olson shot three-over-par 75 and Vinnie Poncino, Greg Lopez and Erik Blomqvist finished with 77s to help Saddleback shoot 382 at Steele Canyon in El Cajon. Medalist Chadler Carr of Cuyamaca shot 73.
