Ex-Miami Official Admits to Fraud

A former Miami city manager who was pushed out of office after the Elian Gonzalez saga agreed to a plea deal and admitting to funneling thousands of dollars out of a local charity organization. He faces six months in prison.
Donald Warshaw, who was forced to quit by Mayor Joe Carollo in April 2000, told U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno that he used about $70,000 from Do the Right Thing of Miami Inc., a nonprofit group of which he was treasurer. Warshaw agreed to plead guilty to one count of fraud and to pay back the money over seven years. Other charges against him were dropped.
