* Gridley: This rural community north of Sacramento is home to the Butte County Fair Aug. 22-26. Livestock contests, a demolition derby, entertainment, carnival rides and games will fill the fairgrounds, 199 E. Hazel St. 4-11 p.m. Aug. 22; noon-11 p.m. Aug. 23-26. Free admission on opening day.
