In other Southern Section girls’ championship games:
Brea Olinda 56, North Torrance 54--Brea Olinda (26-4) won the II-AA title, its 12th section championship in 13 seasons, but few have been so difficult.
With senior guard Jackie Lord sidelined for the second consecutive game because of a knee injury, sophomore Jennifer Katsuyama scored 11 points and freshman Carrie Noyes scored 10, including two free throws with 36 seconds left to give Brea a 55-51 advantage.
Orchid Ryan scored a game-high 24 for North Torrance (27-5), which was making its first appearance in a section final.
North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake 65, Torrance Bishop Montgomery 62--Karina Siam scored 19 points, including four free throws in the final 17 seconds, as Harvard-Westlake (26-5) won the III-AA championship--its second section title in four seasons.
Bishop Montgomery (25-6), the defending state champion, made three three-pointers in the final 48 seconds, at one point trimming a 60-53 deficit to 63-62.
But each time the Knights threatened, the Wolverines answered. Harvard-Westlake made its final eight free throws and 19 of 24 overall.
Siam made the last two with 5.1 seconds left and Chantal Kazay deflected the Knights’ up-court pass out of bounds with less than a second remaining, leaving Bishop Montgomery’s Noelle Quinn only enough time to heave a 25-foot shot off an inbounds pass at the buzzer.
Quinn finished with 22 points. Freshman Nykia Peace added 20 for Bishop Montgomery.
