OXNARD — An Oxnard man was stabbed several times in the chest Sunday night during a fight outside an extended-stay motel, police said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was in surgery Sunday night at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, and police officers described his condition as critical.
The man was stabbed about 8:30 p.m. outside the Ambassador Motel in the 1600 block of South Oxnard Boulevard, Oxnard Police Cmdr. Lee Wilcox said.
Detectives were interviewing witnesses late Sunday and working to identify the assailant, Wilcox said. Police believe that several people were involved in the fight and that the victim and the suspect knew each other.
It was unclear if either man lived at the motel, Wilcox said.
