The American Cinematheque will present “An In-Person Tribute to Javier Bardem” today and Wednesday at the Egyptian. Tonight at 7, Bardem will introduce two films shown only in film festivals in the U.S.: “Ecstasy,” in which Bardem plays a hustler who passes himself off as the long-lost son of a famous theater director (Federico Luppi), and “Huevoes de Oro” (1992), Bigas Luna’s satire on the rise and fall of a real estate speculator with voracious appetites for food, sex, riches and power. Benecio Del Toro has a featured role.
Bardem returns Wednesday for the 7 p.m. screening of “Before Night Falls,” which has won him a best actor Oscar nomination and which he will discuss following the screening. For more information, call (323) 466-FILM.
