SHERMAN OAKS — Police searched Thursday for three men who had robbed a supermarket bank branch that morning, authorities said.
The robbers ordered shoppers and employees to the floor at gunpoint about 10:15 a.m. and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Lt. Horace Frank, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident took place at a Washington Mutual branch inside a Ralphs supermarket in the 14000 block of Ventura Boulevard.
Shortly after the robbery, officers found a Chrysler minivan believed to belong to the robbers in the 14000 block of Moorpark Street, Frank said.
Officers also found two handguns and an undisclosed amount of cash that police said they also believe belonged to the robbers.
