Cal Poly Shuts Down Fullerton in 2-1 Victory

Tyler Fitch gave up one run over seven innings to lead Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to a 2-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a nonconference baseball game Saturday at Goodwin Field.
Fitch allowed four hits, walked six and struck out two for the Mustangs (17-6). Titan starter Darric Merrell gave up two runs on 10 hits to suffer the loss.
The Titans (12-9) scored their only run in the third when Robert Guzman scored from third while David Bacani, who was on second, was caught in a rundown after being picked off.
Chapman wins twice--Leslie Prochaska had a home run, triple and four runs batted in as Chapman (11-4) defeated Colorado College, 17-2. Earlier, Dawn Lopez homered and scored three runs in an 11-2 win over Plattsburgh (N.Y.) State.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:
UC Irvine 3, Pepperdine 2--Erick Helenihi had a match-high 30 kills to lead visiting UC Irvine (9-10, 5-7) to a 26-30, 30-27, 26-30, 30-25, 17-15 victory.
