Vanguard Shuts Out Point Loma Nazarene

Timothy Jara’s pinch-hit single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Vanguard a 1-0 victory over Point Loma Nazarene in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Point Loma.

Marcus Harris (5-1) pitched a four-hit shutout for Vanguard (18-9).

Point Loma Nazarene 2-2, Concordia 1-3--With a run in the bottom of the seventh in the second game, the Eagles (19-13, 6-4) earned a split with the NAIA’s third-ranked team. Catcher Holly Walker’s run-scoring single made a winner out of pitcher Carrie Shankles (8-6), who retired the last 10 batters she faced. Point Loma Nazarene is 18-4, 8-2.
