San Quentin

The story behind the story on San Quentin should be about the astounding 581 people who are on death row (“Pressure Grows to Shut Down San Quentin,” March 19). If the state executed one prisoner every month it would take almost 50 years to execute all these people, and this doesn’t consider all who will be sentenced to death in the meantime. The story should be about the insanity of the judicial system in California.
