Arts Scholarships Available in Cypress

Visual and performing arts scholarships from $100 to $500 are available to Cypress residents and students from the Friends of Cypress Cultural Arts. The application deadline is April 6 at 5 p.m. Previous scholarship winners are not eligible.
Applicants will be invited to audition April 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cypress Community Center, 5800 Orange Ave. Visual artists are invited to bring their portfolios to be juried; performers will be judged by a panel.
Last year, the Friends awarded $7,000 to 17 students. The arts program, in its 15th year, is held in conjunction with the Cypress Celebrates the Arts citywide festival, May 1 to 17. A scholarship awards ceremony will be May 17 at the community center.
