Fluor Sees Profit Meeting Expectations

After warning earlier of lower results than expected for the fourth quarter, Fluor Corp. said it expects profit next year to meet analysts’ expectations.
Aliso Viejo-based Fluor, the largest publicly traded engineering and construction company, said it expects to earn $2.10 to $2.20 a share, in line with estimates of analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial/First Call.
Fluor said last month that its profit for the fourth quarter and 2001 would be less than analysts had forecast because of a slowdown in the mining and telecommunications industries. The company expects to earn $1.76 to $1.86 a share this year.
Fluor closed at $37.71, down $1.08 a share, on the New York Stock Exchange.
