Travelocity.com to Cut Jobs, Ad Spending

Travelocity.com Inc. the leading travel Web site, announced cost cuts that included laying off 320 people, or 10% of its non-customer service work force, instituting a hiring freeze and cutting advertising and other discretionary spending.
Citing a sharp reduction in air travel after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Fort Worth-based company also said it will realign its customer service organization, giving 60 days’ notice that it will close its Sacramento call center and reroute calls to its Texas, Virginia and Pennsylvania call centers.
Travelocity fell 49 cents to $17.40 on Nasdaq.
