Los Angeles-based stock-trading firm Jefferies Group Inc. pledged to donate all net trading revenue and commissions that it earned Thursday to relief groups for those affected by the attack on the World Trade Center.
The firm said it would give $5 million to $8 million to as many as 25 nonprofit groups. About two-thirds would go to six groups--the American Red Cross and five funds set up to help families of victims.
Jefferies normally trades about 45 million shares a day but handled a record 130 million shares Thursday after earlier announcing its plan to distribute trading proceeds. Walter Hamilton
