Remains of First Pilot Killed in Vietnam Buried

With a 21-gun salute, the remains of the first U.S. pilot recorded killed in the Vietnam War were buried by the Air Force at Arlington National Cemetery.
Capt. Fred “Potlick” Clay Cut- rer’s remains were found in 1997 with the help of a Vietnamese who saw his bomber go down Aug. 5, 1964, in Long Khan Province.
Also honored was Cutrer’s navigator, Lt. Leonard L. Kaster, who was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
