Royalclassic Express, perfect in two starts for owners Jerry and Shannon Fizer and trainer John Cooper, will try to remain unbeaten this evening.
At the same time, the 2-year-old A Classic Dash filly will try to qualify for the $350,000 Governor’s Cup Futurity, part of California Breeders Champions Night on June 22.
Royalclassic Express, an Idaho-bred purchased for $6,500, will break from the outside in the second of seven 350-yard trials for the Governor’s Cup. Fifty-six 2-year-olds are scheduled to compete with the 10 fastest times moving to the Governor’s Cup.
In the sixth trial, which goes as the eighth on the 10-race card, Doreme Fasolasi Win is the 6-5 morning-line choice. The Apollo colt, fourth behind Morning Snow, Lonely Moon Sign and Suzy Cartel in the Kindergarten Futurity on May 18, figures to relish the additional 50 yards he will have to work with tonight.
The picks: 1. A Red Hot Star. 2. Make A Rare Run. 3. Female Friend. 4. Royalclassic Express. 5. Azyoucansee. 6. Special Queen SA. 7. Deefirst. 8. Doreme Fasolasi Win. 9. Flys R Streakin. 10. Mr Vargas.
Four! In the seventh, use Dashnlitia, Deefirst and First Rate Choice, single Doreme Fasolasi Win in the eighth, use Flys R Streakin and Ipomea in the ninth and Vallarta Royal, Mr Sunset Saint and Mr Vargas in the 10th.
Shots in the dark: Nike Dash could improve for trainer Paul Jones in the third. Cat Speed was game winning at 41-1 in her bow for trainer Harry Nelson and could be a factor in the fourth.
