Intertainer Plans Video on Demand in Europe
- Share via
Culver City-based Intertainer is bringing its video-on-demand services to Europeans with high-speed Internet accounts.
The company struck a deal last week with Freedomland, an Italian company that specializes in interactive television and online entertainment. Freedomland agreed to put more than $14 million into the joint venture and acquired a minority stake in Intertainer for about $9.4 million.
For its part, Intertainer agreed to make its video-on-demand technology available to the joint venture and to help acquire content. The new service plans to offer a mix of programming from the U.S. and Europe.
