Woman Dies When Big Rig Hits Pickup

A woman was fatally injured late Monday when the pickup in which she was riding was hit by a big-rig truck, authorities said.
Carol Lee, 52, was in a Ford Ranger driven by her husband, David Lee, police said. They were traveling north on the Orange Freeway just south of Yorba Linda Boulevard when David Lee suddenly slowed to pull over and secure the cargo, investigators said.
The big rig’s driver braked but hit the pickup at about 55 mph, California Highway Patrol officials said. Carol Lee apparently was not wearing a seat belt, they said.
