Brunch Is Order of the Day

Hi, Mom: It’s time to make those reservations for Mother’s Day, May 12. (We know you aren’t planning to cook.) Bear in mind the following prices don’t include tax or tip.
The Regent Beverly Wilshire has prix-fixe menus in the Dining Room from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the Lobby Lounge from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Dining Room’s four-course menu has choices including lobster and white asparagus salad, potato and leek bisque, rack of lamb and an herb-crusted veal chop. There will be a pianist in the afternoon and a vocalist in the evening. The price is $65 for adults; $25 for children younger than 12. The Lobby Lounge has a three-course menu of dishes including smoked salmon, veal scaloppine and a trio of chocolate mousse. A pianist will perform in the afternoon. The Saddle Peak Lodge offers brunch and dinner on Mother’s Day. Brunch begins with Champagne, a Mimosa or a Bellini. The three courses include dishes such as a lobster club, seared halibut, French toast stuffed with bananas, lavender creme brulee and strawberry tart. Brunch costs $45 for adults, $22 for children younger than 12. The four-course dinner has choices such as spring pea soup, grilled white asparagus, quail with polenta, roasted elk tenderloin and a warm chocolate and brandied cherry cake. Vermont is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. with brunch and dinner specials for Mom. Dishes include crab cakes ($13), smoked salmon Benedict ($15), vegetarian risotto ($14) and five-spice chicken ($18). Alto Palato is open May 12 from 1 p.m. on. A special four-course menu of spot prawn and haricot vert salad, lobster and black cabbage ravioli, roasted dorade or leg of lamb and melons with sorbet will be served. The price is $40. Maggiano’s Little Italy sets up a brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a dinner buffet from 2 to 9 p.m. for Ma and you. The brunch buffet has cinnamon French toast, smoked bacon, crepes, chicken linguine, mini cheesecakes and more. The dinner buffet has salad, pasta, carved meat and dessert stations. The buffet at brunch or dinner costs $29.95 for adults, $13.95 for children ages 5 to 12; and free for children 5 and younger. Menu Action: Breeze in the Century Plaza Hotel has started serving Sunday champagne brunch, indoors or on the patio, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chef Andreas Nieto sets up an oyster bar; a carving station; a grill station (steak, chicken and swordfish); an egg station; a salad station; and a table with paella, potatoes, vegetables and Himalayan red rice.
