Nurses, Lab Workers Ready to Go on Strike

Nurses, lab technicians and respiratory therapists at Queen of Angels-Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center voted Friday to go on strike once their contract expires May 13, union officials said.
Low wages and benefits for the hospital’s 1,100 employees have created a chronic staffing shortage that has led to improper care for patients, union officials said. They charged the hospital with unfair labor practices, including retaliation against workers who have protested the staffing levels.
More than 90% of employees voted to go forward with the strike if no resolution is reached.
