Johnson, Ruziecki Sign With Bruin Track Teams

Pole vaulter Chelsea Johnson of Atascadero High and thrower Brian Ruziecki of Huntington Beach have signed with the track and field teams at UCLA.
Johnson has vaulted 13 feet 4 this season, which is the second-best outdoor mark by a high school girl in the U.S.
Ruziecki has top marks of 61-0 in the shotput and 188-2 in the discus. Also signing with the UCLA men were sprinter Chauncee Smith of San Diego University City, quarter-miler Craig Everhart of Tacoma (Wash.) Davis and pole vaulter Michael Landers of Merced Golden Valley.
Other signings:
* Adam Zahn, a 6-foot-8 swingman in basketball from Redondo Union, has signed with Oregon. Zahn averaged 14 points and eight rebounds last season for the Southern Section Division II-A champions.
* Kristin Cohoon of Palos Verdes Chadwick, a two-time Southern Section Division V girls’ cross-country champion, has committed to Stanford.
She was the runner-up in the state Division V final in 2000 and 2001.
