More than half of the Coconino National Forest in Arizona will be closed to the public beginning Wednesday because of the high fire threat throughout the area.
Campfires and charcoal grills will be prohibited in the sections that are still open. Forest officials said the closures are the best fire prevention tool available at a time when most of the state is experiencing dry conditions that have already led to several large fires.
