Two ears not enough for artist

A performance artist and research fellow at Nottingham Trent University in England is planning to graft cartilage in the shape of a human ear onto his forearm, the London Observer reports.
The newspaper said some people in the arts world are appalled at the notion and argue that it has nothing to do with art. But it said the 57-year-old artist, who goes by the name Stelarc, defended his work as an exploration of how it is possible to change the human body.
“The issue is not to shock,” he said. “I want people to see this extra ear and speculate in a way about alternative interfaces on the body.”
