James Brown had plenty to feel good about Tuesday: The veteran soul singer was named one of the five recipients of this year’s Kennedy Center Honors, saluting lifetime achievement in the arts.
Also selected for the 26th annual awards were country singer Loretta Lynn, violinist Itzhak Perlman, actress Carol Burnett and film and stage director Mike Nichols.
They’ll be feted in Washington on Dec. 7 in ceremonies that subsequently will be shown on CBS.
