Consultant Sentenced in Stan Lee Media Case

A former Merrill Lynch & Co. financial consultant was sentenced to two years in federal prison for helping his brother carry out a check-kiting scheme at Encino-based Stan Lee Media, which has entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Jonathan Gordon, 45, of Malibu, must also pay $1.2 million restitution. Gordon’s brother, Stephen, 52, was sentenced Monday to 6 1/2 years in prison. A third defendant, Peter F. Paul, 54, is under arrest in Brazil.
