Affidavit Details Alleged Violations by Mayor

Modesto Mayor Carmen Sabatino finagled free television while participating in City Council votes involving the cable company and used his executive assistant to pick up his dry cleaning, pay traffic tickets and run other personal errands, according to a police affidavit.

The mayor also failed to disclose millions of dollars in cash gifts, income and loans, according to the 133-page affidavit made public Tuesday.

Sabatino, 65, who was charged last week with 10 felonies, including perjury, conflict of interest and misappropriation of public funds, but was not arrested, denied the allegations.
