No ‘Free Bird’ at the Greek

The Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd has canceled a batch of upcoming concerts, including an appearance next Thursday at the Greek Theatre, because of the health woes of founding lead guitarist Gary Rossington.
Rossington, 51, who had quintuple bypass surgery Feb. 25 at an Atlanta-area hospital, had received permission to head out on a tour beginning July 19.
But last week, Rossington’s doctor ordered him to rest because of fatigue, band spokesman Lathum Nelson said. Further tests determined that Rossington had suffered a mild seizure. Rossington, who was released from an Atlanta area hospital Monday, will need at least three weeks of rest before touring, Gwynn said.
