From Times Wire Reports
A powerful aftershock rocked an area east of Algeria’s capital, Algiers, killing at least three people, injuring 187 others and spreading panic. The magnitude 5.8 temblor shook a zone that was hit hardest when a magnitude 6.8 quake killed more than 2,200 people May 21.
In the aftershock, at least one home collapsed in Boumerdas and guests fled an Algiers hotel. Since the first quake, many residents have been living in the streets or in tents, fearing that aftershocks could topple unstable buildings.
