A man who was beaten with a hammer and fatally stabbed was identified Friday as a 19-year-old Rialto man -- apparently a boyfriend of the alleged killer’s estranged wife, police said.
Sergio Ojeda was found dead inside a Huntington Beach apartment Thursday morning on Portview Circle. Police said they were summoned by two 911 calls, one from a woman yelling for help and a second from a man who made threats.
John Salcida, 22, the estranged husband, was found at the apartment and booked on suspicion of murder. He was treated at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana for cuts to his face and neck, injuries that police believe were self-inflicted.
Police said Salcida had been arrested two weeks ago on suspicion of attacking his estranged wife and was free on bail at the time of the slaying.
The woman, who was also in the apartment when police arrived, was not injured. She was not identified.
