40 Sick Horses Are Removed From Ranch

More than 30 investigators descended Thursday on the 2,000-acre Gardner Ranch -- home to about 600 mustangs -- looking for evidence of cruelty, neglect and abuse by the owner, Slick Gardner. By late afternoon, sheriff’s deputies had removed 40 of the sickest horses.
