Re “Kerry Opens With Salvo Against Bush,” Sept. 3: Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) kicks off his official presidential campaign with a slam against President Bush’s Iraq policy, neatly sidestepping the fact that he was among the Capitol Hill Democrats who voted to give Bush the carte blanche authority he needed to invade Iraq in the first place.
It’s time for Kerry and the other congressional Democrats who share responsibility for the sorry mess we’ve gotten ourselves into in Iraq to stop pretending they didn’t see it coming. You can’t write someone a blank check and then feign shock when he cashes it.
