Costly Weather Satellite Dropped on the Floor

The nearly completed $239-million NOAA-N Prime weather satellite toppled to the floor at the Lockheed Martin Sunnyvale, Calif., plant and was seriously damaged, officials said.
The satellite was to be sent into polar orbit in 2008. According to a source close to the program, bolts that were supposed to secure the satellite had been removed a day earlier.
