Foundation plans to move art

The Barnes Foundation cleared another hurdle in an effort to move its eminent collection of Post-Impressionist and early Modern paintings to downtown Philadelphia.
Over the weekend, the board of Lincoln University, which nominates four of the five board members of the Barnes, voted in favor of the move, capping weeks of negotiations.
The foundation, embroiled in a yearlong financial and management controversy, is seeking to move its multimillion-dollar collection to a downtown arts district. Because the move violates the late Albert C. Barnes’ will, the plan requires approval by the Montgomery Orphans’ Court, which is expected to consider the petition in December.
