Americans Say They Were Detained, Abused

Two U.S. citizens alleged that they were detained for months and harshly interrogated by Pakistani intelligence and American FBI agents on suspicion of having links to Islamic militants, before being freed without charges and abandoned, blindfolded, on a Karachi street.
Relatives lost contact with brothers Zain Afzal, 23, and Kashan Afzal, 25, after they were allegedly detained in Karachi in August. The pair said they were freed three weeks ago.
Pakistani authorities have denied arresting them. The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad could not be reached but has declined to comment in the past.
