Man Is Killed by Officers in Riverside

A man was shot and killed by Riverside police outside a hotel Monday, authorities said.
Officers had received calls of a person acting irrationally at the Welcome Inn of America near UC Riverside shortly after 1 p.m., Sgt. Mike Cook said.
After a confrontation with officers, the man was shot, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The identity of the man was not released. Police also declined to release the names of the officers involved or details about what prompted the shooting. Cook said the shooting was under investigation.
