Officials Reviewing ‘Wine Corridor’ Plan

County officials are reviewing a proposal to create a “wine corridor” that would cover more than 80 miles of Salinas Valley roadways.
Wine industry leaders have been pushing the plan for the last five years. They say it is critical to the $380-million wine-grape industry and represents an added tourism boon.
Opponents say it would generate more traffic, road congestion and conflict with other farming operations.
The plan is under review for its potential effect on the environment.
