Gemstar-TV Guide Names Singh as CFO

Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc., the biggest maker of software for cable television program guides, named Bedi Singh as chief financial officer to fill a post vacant since the company fired Brian Urban in January.
Singh was previously a divisional finance chief at Novartis, a Swiss pharmaceutical company, and CFO at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Hollywood-based Gemstar said. Chief Executive Rich Battista added the CFO’s duties to his job after dismissing Urban.
Battista is moving to bring in a second finance chief after accounting missteps led to a restatement of 1999 to 2002 results in 2003.
