Before we get too effusive about their magnanimity, I’d like to point out that when these gents draw $1 salaries they contribute only 15.3 cents (combined employer/employee contribution) to the Social Security/Medicare system. Further, when they draw dividends, they pay a tax rate far lower than they would if they drew it out as salary. And when they sell a few shares to generate cash to buy a yacht or a chateau, they pay the capital gains rate on the increased value of those shares.
So it’s really about shifting the tax burden to the rest of us.
