A beer festival on tap

Sept. 28-30: For three days, the Colorado Convention Center has more beers on tap than anywhere else in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The 25th Great American Beer Festival brings more than 1,600 brews from more than 380 American breweries to Denver for the nation’s largest public tasting and competition. Admission fees give visitors a program, a floor map and a commemorative tasting cup good for unlimited 1-ounce samples. Chase the beer with barbecue, sushi and more. Learn about pairing beer with food at seminars with noted chefs.

Bozeman, Mont.
Sept. 30-Oct. 1: The Bridger Raptor Festival watches and celebrates the nation’s largest known migration of golden eagles. Visitors will witness 17 species of raptors fly around Bridger Mountain. Learn how to identify species and see a presentation of ambassador falcons, hawks and owls from the Montana Raptor Center.
Saddle Peak Lodge, base of Bridger Bowl Ski Area, 16 miles north of Bozeman on Montana Highway 86. Marked trails go to the ridge for viewing the birds. The hike is about 1.5 miles and ascends more than 2,000 feet. Hiking gear, food and water are necessary; binoculars are recommended. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. both days. (406) 585-1211.
