Navy Identifies Pilot Killed in Training Crash

The pilot killed when his F/A-18C Hornet crashed in the Imperial Valley has been identified as Navy Lt. Cmdr. Frank C. Wittwer, 35, of Hanford, Calif.
Wittwer, part of a squadron based at Lemoore, Calif., was on a night bombing training mission when the plane crashed in a vacant area Wednesday night, officials said.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
