There’s Nothing Like the Playoffs

I hope the top supporters of the BCS were watching the NFL games Sunday. Nobody gave the Steelers a snowball’s chance in you know where on the road against what many thought was one of the best teams ever.
In the college system, the Steelers would have been playing the Panthers in some meaningless dot-com or other corporate-named bowl game on Dec. 30.

It’s refreshing to see someone else see through the Manning Family Facade [J.A. Adande column, Jan. 16]. Although Archie Manning was a fairly decent quarterback, I don’t recall him ever being selfish or playing the blame game.
Somewhere, however, things went wrong with his two quarterback sons. Both by their conduct and character, they show that they are concerned first and always with themselves.
Peyton, who has the more talent of the two, may very well win a Super Bowl some day, but he seriously lacks the moral integrity most of the great players have, and by blaming everyone but himself for the poor performance of his team last weekend, he fails to meet the requirements of a true team player and leader.
As for Eli, it was clear from the manner in which he conducted himself at the draft -- by refusing publicly to join the San Diego Chargers, whining all along -- that he lacks the integrity and foundation it takes to be a true winner.
Maybe Archie can take these boys to the woodshed and teach them some manners and respect.

Is anyone really surprised the Colts came out flat and got punked by the Steelers? My condolences and prayers go out to Tony Dungy, but he and the Colt staff are to blame for this loss.
There are 16 games during the regular season, not 14. You keep playing until the season is over and if you make it to the postseason, you play some more.
If the Yankees clinch the AL East in August, should they pull their starters off the field for the entire month of September? Should the Pistons just play their bench this April? There’s something called momentum.

Can we circulate a petition that says the Seattle Seahawks have to change their uniforms before they can go to a Super Bowl?
