at Philadelphia 5, Arizona 2: The Phillies’ Chase Utley extended the longest hitting streak in the major leagues this season to 27 games. He hit a soft liner to center leading off the fifth inning to equal the third-longest streak in club history. Shortstop Jimmy Rollins has the longest streak at 38 games -- the final 36 of last season and the first two this season.

Florida 6, at Atlanta 1: The Marlins won a series at Turner Field for the first time since 2002. They won two of three, ending a streak of 10 series that were either lost or split. Their last series win there was Sept. 20-22, 2002.

at Chicago 5. St. Louis 4: The Cubs sent nine batters to the plate in the sixth inning when they took advantage of an error by third baseman Scott Rolen to score three runs and take a 5-4 lead.

Cincinnati 8, at Houston 4: Elizardo Ramirez went 6 2/3 innings to win for the first time since June 25. He struck out seven in a row from the third to the fifth inning.

at Colorado 9, San Diego 8: Jamey Carroll doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th after Yorvit Torrealba had tied the score with a two-out homer off Trevor Hoffman an inning earlier.
