Organizer of Bombings Is Sentenced to Death

A Pakistani court sentenced a Shiite Muslim militant to death for organizing the twin bombings of a radical Sunni gathering that killed at least 39 people two years ago, lawyers said.
Arfan Ali Shah, 35, was convicted in the Oct. 7, 2004, bombings at a ceremony in Multan celebrating a slain Sunni leader, a government prosecutor said. Shah’s lawyer says he will appeal.
